Review of The Frisco Kid (1979) by Bryan C — 10 Dec 2008
This is a childhood favorite that I should have stayed away from. I'm into Robert Aldrich right now so I gave it a try, but big mistake. It thinks it's very funny just because Gene Wilder is in it, even though Gene Wilder is actually trying to play a serious character.
At the end it starts to take everything a little more seriously and gets much better, so it's not a total waste. The movie is best known now because Harrison Ford's in it - prominently displayed on the DVD box.
You have to look twice to see Gene Wilder. Ford's appealing and very Ham Solo-y. His role was originally offered to John Wayne. Written by Michael Elias (The Jerk) and Frank Shaw.
