Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Alyssa N — 01 Jun 2008

This Peter Jackson horror-comedy begins with a highly creative and unique concept (an exorcist working with ghosts to scam people out of their money? Genius!), which is why I never expected it to become predictable and unoriginal by the end, yet unfortunately it does.

The morbid humor still made me laugh, and some parts are fun and exciting to watch. It just would have been nice if Jackson relied more on a strong plot and the talent of his cast instead of the fancy special effects that he seems determined to show off whenever possible.
