Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Bill H — 20 Feb 2008
Before LOTR and the King Kong remake, Peter Jackson made horror flicks like this (another infamous flick being Dead Alive, aka Braindead). Well, horror in the way the Evil Dead trilogy are horror films.
I remember when this movie first came out, I thought it'd be pretty scary. Of course, it wasn't so much, but rather kinda funny... yet it still retains some chills, especially from an interesting plot about a serial killer (Jake Busey) still committing murders in the afterlife, and it's up to badass Michael J.
Fox to put a stop to it. Still surprisingly dark given its sorta kinda comic-book presentation. A severely underrated gem from back in the day (90s).
