Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Terry D — 21 Mar 2008
Jacksons first american studio film (after people sat up and took notice of heavenly creatures).
A rollocking fun and quirky adventure with a hint of nastiness, which is always good. The CGI stands up pretty well today and there's even more of it in the directors cut (which is the one to go for). Fox is always good to watch and a hard guy not to like but the bad guys are excellent, especially coombs who steals the show. Not just a prelim to the Lord of the Rings but a fully developed film in it's self.
