Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Debbie P — 27 Apr 2010
I love this movie. The Frighteners was released in 1996 and stars Michael J. Fox who plays Frank Bannister, who develops psychic abilities who can see, hear and communicate with ghosts. This happens after a tragic car accident that claims his wife, so he cashes in on his new abilities.
When he discovers that an entity resembling the Grim Reaper is killing people, marking numbers on their foreheads beforehand, Frank tries to help those who are next to be 'reaped'. This film has a good story, good acting, some wonderful comedy, some scary moments and great special effects.
I have to add that John Astin has a memorable part playing 'The Judge" - a hanging judge that has been dead for over a hundred years. I recommend this movie to those who love a good ghost story.
