Review of The Frighteners (1996) by Liz — 25 Jul 2011
While not as fun Jacksonâ(TM)s earlier horror films it has its moments but itâ(TM)s not as good as I remember it. This was the first Rated R film I saw in the theater, and back Jake Buseyâ(TM)s character sort of freaked me out (rather then now when anything Busey sort of freaks me out).
So rewatching it, itâ(TM)s pretty much a comedy, and thereâ(TM)s not really any reason for it to even be rated R. The supporting characters are better than the Michael J Fox and the pretty bland Trini Alvarado.
Anyway, itâ(TM)s nothing special, but Iâ(TM)d prefer Peter Jackson goes back to horror movies rather than dreck like Lovely Bones.
