Review of The French Connection (1971) by Tomek S — 02 Jun 2009
An outstanding crime drama. An actual realistic view of being a New York cop. Intense scenes, and outstanding filming, makes this one of the greatest crime dramas of all time. For me, it isn't just a typical cop movie where the cops are professionally trained action stars.
This movie, however, does better. It shows the actual life and personalites of both cops, Popeye and Buddy, just trying to take down a giant drug rig. And when this movie was over, it shocked me with an ending I did not expect coming, but that doesn't make this movie bad, it actually made it better.
This is seriously one of the greatest achievements in film I have ever seen, and has earned a rightful place in my top favorite crime dramas of all time. Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider make a fantastic duo in this wonderful film.
