Review of The French Connection (1971) by Rick A — 13 Sep 2009
Pretty awesome. The first half or so is pretty slow, but the buildup is worth it. This movie has an awesome gritty style and there are many times where the camerawork makes the movie look like a documentary.
Gene Hackman and Roy Scheider are great as guys who are clearly buddies, but still can be honest with each other. The ending is a bit disappointing, but I understand why they did it, and it does come naturally out of the story.
