Review of The French Connection (1971) by Jesse W — 29 Mar 2013
The French Connection was one of the defining early 70's gritty cop dramas. Waves of other films like it eventually started to pop up all over the place in early 70's cinema but rarely have any of them matched it.
(Serpico comes to mind though). Hackman is outstanding and a prime example of how obsession can cloud ones better judgment. It's thrilling from start to finish and the Car/Train chase is one of the highlights in action cinema.
