Review of The French Connection (1971) by Adam K — 06 Jul 2013
So, I had high expectations of this film, and it just didn't live up. I was expecting to be blown away, and I wasn't. Roy Schneider and Gene Hackman were great in their rolls as detective partners.
The film has that slow, plodding pace that early 70's movies have. The location shots are amazing. Their clothes make me jealous. The ending was so dark, that I had to light a candle just to see.
And the car chase? All I could think of was that the Blues Brothers must have been satirizing this movie. I was like, "Huh. That must be where they got the idea...".
