Review of The Frankenstein Theory (2013) by John P — 13 Mar 2013
John Venkenheim hires a crew of documentary filmmakers to follow him in to the Arctic as he attempts to track The Frankenstein Monster, which he has reason to believe is a creature of fact rather than fiction.
What they discover is far more horrific than anything Mary Shelley could ever have conceived. Lazy screenwriting and talentless direction have found a new home in THE FRANKENSTEIN THEORY, which isn't a "theory" so much as it is an ill-conceived idea that fails inexorably upon execution.
Venkenheim only interviews a single witness that claims to have seen the creature in this faux documentary, who also happens to be an unreliable and paranoid meth addict. This, along with a completely unscientific chart of murder trends in the Northwest Territories, is all the proof that Venkenheim needs to head out into the deadly cold to risk the lives of he and his crew on the off chance of discovery.
All of the most modern tracking tools, including infra-red cameras, motion-sensors, and even binoculars, are left behind in place of a trusty notebook and a few hand-helds. Surely enough, however, the crew stumbles upon the creature after only two nights despite the thousands of miles of rugged terrain that surrounds them.
The entire story is absolutely absurd, and an insult to anyone's intelligence. Do better. -Carl ManesI Like Horror Movies.
