Review of The Fox and the Hound (1981) by Chris B — 19 Jan 2012
Yes it may be true that "The Fox and the Hound" has a predictable plot and the story isn't a complex or multifaceted one, but it has an emotional pull unlike a lot of other films. The heartstrings pull at you as the widow must say goodbye to Tod in fear of Amos shooting him.
When he is slowly walking into the forest in a state of shock, it's hard not to break down at the loneliness both Tod and widow Tweed feel having to be separated after such fond memories. The film is a solid one from Disney, not quite reaching the heights of the classic films or dropping to the depths like the direct to video releases.
It boils down to a simple but effective plot, friendship overcomes no matter the circumstances involved.
