Review of The Fox and the Hound (1981) by Adrian B — 29 May 2011
A mother fox drops off her baby at a farm before being killed by trophy hunters. The baby is then adopted by a lonely female farmer. In the next property, an aggresive hunter lives with his two dogs, one older and one newly acquired puppy.
The fox wanders over to the property to become acquainted with the puppy and the two become friends. Unfortunately, circumstances stall the friendship and put their eventual relationship to extreme tests.
Though not one of Disney's best films, there is enough charm, colour, story and emotional impact to make it a relatively powerful movie. It is quite sad. There are several sequences that may bring tears to a viewer's eyes.
One flaw with this film is the songs sung by the owl. There not neccessary and a bit irritating. Otherwise, this is a nice Disney film.
