Although the story does stretch it's credibility, it's still a tense, well paced film with nice winter photography. roy schneider's crazy colonel is sometimes surprisingly touching. I feel frankenheimer is still not appreciated enough as a director.
he might also be the greatest wide-angle lens user this side of welles.
