Review of The Fountain (2006) by Fiatlux — 23 Nov 2006
Not for everyone, but not for the usual reasons. I don't think it's a question of getting it or not getting it, but more a question of how much you are willing to go with it. It's not without its problems: it feels twice as long as it is, and it's like being in a state of intense mourning for the duration.
It is also a brave and beautiful piece of filmmaking. Aronofsky wears his heart on his sleeve like red wet stain, and I'm glad he fought for this project.
