Review of The Forgiveness of Blood (2011) by Vincent L — 31 Jul 2011
Joshua Marston is a fascinating filmmaker - an American director who makes a name for himself shooting films in languages other than English. Although this doesn't have the urgency of his previous Maria Full of Grace, it shares that film's understated grimness.
Centring on the feud between two families in Albania, its clear from the beginning that this isn't going to be a happy outing. Its well made, but feels like a slight disappointment given Marston's pedigree.
