Review of The Forest (2016) by Steve W — 23 Jan 2016
What could have been an interesting metaphor for guilt or grief is thrown away by the shoddy plotting and cliche jump scares. We've seen scary faced schoolgirls and old lady ghosts, so those things don't affect us.
The film only scratched the surface of the psychological aspects of the forest itself, and it ends up being a rather timid affair. Natalie Dormer is strong in the lead role, but overall it adds up to not very much.
