Review of The Foreigner (2017) by Joshua B — 24 Oct 2017
As an action movie it's slightly above average. The fights Jackie Chan performs in this film are excellent, and surprise you with how far they'll go with it, while still not being able to go over the top with it.
As a political drama it is very interesting, and that is the main draw of he film. The score is your generic action film and you can guess the plot from the trailers. The acting was fantastic and believable.
Cinematography is great and the camera doesn't shake during action scenes as if the camera man is having a seizure and the director didn't want to bother re-shooting the scene. The plot you can understand from the trailer and the movie expands on it with many plot points that all come together in the end.
The ending could not have been done any other way, having very realistic circumstances for our hero and even though he conquers through, he is still left with this emptiness. I left my theatre extremely satisfied and I recommend people see this.
The fact that it is a political drama might turn people away from this movie, but don't. You will be pleased. I gave this an 8/10 stars but I really give it 8.5/10 stars. Don't listen to critics they thought Avengers 2 was a good movie.
THIS is a good movie.
