Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Tony F — 09 Apr 2010
Ok, so you take part Karate Kid, Drunken Master, Iron Monkey, Alice in Wonderland, Chinese wire chop suey flicks; stir in a jade pot until well steamed, add a dash of rice wine and, Gom Bui!
I love this movie.
Some great fight scenes with Jet Li and Jackie Chan, open fist and weapons. Great cast in Li, Chan, Chou, Yifei, Bingbing, Angarano.
Superb cinematography and storyline. Remember it's a PG-13 wholesome fantasy movie.
It has more of an American flavour to it than a typical Chinese MA flick, without overblown death scenes for heroes or cheeze ball parts that make you scratch your head. The movie flows and is guessable in the turns but, are so nice to look at who cares? Besides, you want them to happen.
I've seen it 2 times and will see it again.
Bravo.
