Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Angie T — 13 Sep 2009
Great Cinematography, beautiful scenes, and fun mythology. However, putting a white kid in ancient China as "the chosen one" is so cliche and boring, and almost ruins the movie.
Chan and Li together was a great choice. Both get their share of screen time, though there was never any fight scenes that stood out as mind blowing. This film could have gone down as a kung fu mind-blow for the ages, but instead ended up a lighthearted kids movie that is all too familiar, and leaves you wondering what could have been.
