Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Esteban G — 28 Dec 2011
When I heard Jet Li and Jackie Chan were going to make a movie together I was excited and expecting a great film with lots of martial arts but the Forbidden Kingdom is far from that. It is a movie that wastes these two great actors by trying to focus on the comedy while leaving out an interesting plot and not focusing so much on the martial arts.
This film seemed to be like an oriental fairytale which I never was able to connect too. The plot was too silly. The martial arts scenes were interesting but they werenâ??t enough to save the movie. A lot more could have been done with Jackie Chan and Jet Li together for the first time and I think their talents were wasted by focusing too much on Chanâ??s comedic side and not so much on their action skills.
The only thing I enjoyed in this movie was the choreographed fighting scenes but they were too few to save the ridiculous plot. This year hasnâ??t been too good for Jet Li as he also appeared in The Mummy 3.
