Review of The Forbidden Kingdom (2008) by Jack K — 04 Jul 2010
This movie is a great action/fantasy movie. I enjoyed it but I know if I was like 13-15 this would be the Ultimate Favorite movie for me. It has a lil comedy, suspense, "Gung Fu", ancient china.
..the works. The settings are amazing to look at and to watch these legendary actors fight in this time and place is something to behold (regardless of the fact that Jackie Chan is now about 60 and Jet Li is in his mid 50's) It has a great feeling of adventure throughout the whole movie which is what kept me watching.
I'm a sucker for old Chinese music and this has got a great score featuring just that type. With a few Beijing opera sounds as well. There was an over abundance of slow motion used during the fights scenes and action scenes which tends to get a lil hoaky.
It is a great feel good movie, and if you have nephews or nieces like I do I would definitely watch it with them (even though I watched this one, this time, alone).
