Review of The Foot Fist Way (2006) by Justin M — 21 Sep 2008
Danny McBride has proven he's a priceless supporting funny man in 'Pineapple Express' and 'Tropic Thunder,' but he finally gets to prove his leading man capabilities with this terrific indie comedy.
Shot in 19 days, for close to nothing, it's a showcase for what McBride does best--the comically clueless goof. Rude, profane, and deadpan in the extreme, it's 'Napoleon Dynamite' with a martial-arts twist.
It's somewhat smart, making its characters somewhat real, which allows for awkward recognition, painful (and HUGE) laughs, and a redeemable heart. It's not for everyone, but if you enjoy your comedy deadpan and laced with profanity and rudeness, this indie delight is just for you.
