Review of The Foot Fist Way (2006) by Ryon S — 14 Aug 2009
This indie comedy will be known as the one that introduced the very funny Danny McBride to audiences and to moviedom in general. Now a pretty much ubiquitous comic talent, McBride here channels a darker streak in playing a self-absorbed, self-deluded tae kwan do master in small town America who has to deal with a cheating wife and life in general.
Acutely observed and very well performed, this actually works as a dry comic drama with a strong streak of blackness. McBride is superb in the lead, characterizing an overconfident, mean, self-deluded, egotistical man trying to make his way through his world.
Interesting, offbeat and actually quite funny.
