Review of The Food of the Gods (1976) by Brandon B — 08 Nov 2007
A classic cheesy horror movie from Bert I. Gordon from the 70s about rats, wasps, chickens, and a rooster that eat a substance that causes them to grow to gigantic proportions. I felt that certain threads of the plot could have been explored that weren't.
For example, the substance doesn't affect those who initially consume it, but their offspring. The film features a pregnant woman. How come they didn't take advantage of that by having her accidentally consume some of the substance, even off camera so as to surprise the viewer, and have her baby be born monsterous? Strangely enough, the film does feature a birth sequence in the middle of all the action.
Overall a fun and cheesy production; I was just expecting more.
