Review of The Food of the Gods (1976) by Martin B — 25 May 2011
The Rat Pack, huh?
Classic Eco Horror of 1976. Follows much the lead from "Night of the Lepus" or "Birds" but this time the rats play the leading roles.
We also encounter som huge Wasps and some evil arm-biting Larvae and some overgrown chickens as well.
Much of this movie works out as any kind of good thriller, it's just the rats scenes that becomes a bit inconsistent. Sometimes the rats are the size of some big dogs. a minute later they are the size of big horses just to shrink back to dog-size a moment after that.
But any lover of Eco-horror will have a blast here. The attacked cast consist of heroes, a confused farmer lady, an evil entreprenour, the warmhearted biologist and the couple that are pregnant and a bit stupid at the same time.
Scenes varies from nice looking to plain silly, just like they should in theese kind of movies.
