Review of The Fog of War (2003) by Matty B — 07 Dec 2009
Compelling documentary starring Robert S. McNamara giving us 11 lessons on war as he looks back in retrospect on his time as Secretary of Defense. He strays away from a few touchy subjects, but somehow has no trouble admitting that they targeted wooden houses (the poor) in Tokyo with fire bombs which lead to the death of 100,000 civilians.
The whole "kill 100,000 foreigners to save 1,000 Americans" is a very poor way to look at it human life. He seems to recall everything well, but says he "can't remember" if he authorized use of Agent Orange in Vietnam.
This is a good start for those unaware of our military past.
