Review of The Fog of War (2003) by Michael B — 24 Jan 2010
Brilliant documentary about the complexity of war and, even if it is only hindsight and years of personal reflection that have brought McNamara to his current viewpoint, it was refreshing to see quite a balanced view on war from a high-level American politician.
His revelations about how close the world came to nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis and his realisation that he probably would have been tried for war crimes if Japan had defeated the USA in World War II are just two of the many profound insights into his life and career.
