Review of The Fog of War (2003) by Ricky P — 07 Jun 2013
Could possibly be my favorite documentary ever. It's so incredibly insightful, emotional, cerebral, cathartic, effusive, logical and on & on. McNamara is an interesting man who obviously has major concerns about his role in global events -- concerns that he's turned into lessons for posterity.
He was responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands or even millions -- but I get the feeling that he truly didn't think what he was doing was essentially "evil" -- or at least he was abiding evildoing by LBJ in Vietnam and then Nixon in Cambodia.
This movie seems to serve as his mea culpa and his version of atonement; and I'm apt to give him the benefit of the doubt. This is such a powerful doc -- definitely worth a see.
