Review of The Fog (2005) by Robert T — 07 Aug 2008
First off, I kind of remembered this film when it came out three years ago, but it never really caught my attention until just recently. I actually caught this film on television, and to be honest, I was interested.
While I was viewing it, I noticed the was trying to target the young audiences. Which to me was fine, but I wasn't sure why the film had to dumb it down for the other audiences to understand. Yes there were some scary moments, but most were just predictable.
After viewing the film, I noticed it was a remake from an older film. Though I have never seen the original, and probably never, the film's story and plot failed me. The film's cast was alright, but again, it was predictable which character will die and which won't.
The film's ending was a shocker, but it was also so sudden. I knew the film tried to buildup the ending by using flashback scenes, but those flashback scenes never interested me. To me, those scenes were kind of random.
But I have to admit, one of the better elements in the film were the visuals and the location of the film. Other than that, the rest were just mediocre. Overall, the film was not as entertaining I wish it was.
Change the cast and re-write the screenplay, I might change my mind then.
