Review of The Flying Guillotine (1975) by Allan C — 24 Jul 2018
The Flying Guillotine is a badass weapon. This a good entry in the Shaw catalog just don't expect it to be a mother-fucker like Master of the Flying Guillotine. There's just not enough 'special' touches like a kickass villain, a smoking score & a raging climax to put it on that level.
If your a fan of the genre though it's quite enjoyable though even if it's a bit long. I guess that it had to be though as it's really a 4 part movie as you get the origin of the weapon, the training, the assassinations & then the man hunt for Mau Tang who has descensioned from the Emperor.
Some of it could have been thinned down a bit or maybe saved for the sequel but all in all a good time. Very interested to see what part 2 has to offer.
