Review of The Fly (1986) by Hellholehorror — 24 Sep 2022
This is an excellent character horror with genuine fear that cleverly scares every part of you. The story is amazing and the character development makes you believe the horror that is befalling their lives.
This is not a slasher. This is body shock. The parallels to cancer do hit home and make it difficult to watch. This is probably David Cronenberg’s best film. Downside is that the pace isn’t suited for modern audiences, it takes too long to deliver on the title.
Upside is that it has a fantastic ending delivering the title. Clever, fearful and powerful menace from within.
