Review of The Florida Project (2017) by Jay J — 26 Nov 2017
So overrated!!!!!!! I didn't get what the mom's problem was. She seemed to have the emotional maturity of a 13 year old. But why? How did she get like this? We'll never know.
This movie made poor people look loud, trashy and wild instead of relatable and sympathetic, which so easily could have been done. The little girl seemed to have no idea that her mom was prostituting... she kind of had an inkling at one point, but throughout the movie, she seemed pretty carefree-just obnoxious and oblivious to the danger she was in. Children in homes like this become parentified, taking care of the mom and more concerned with her wellbeing than anyone else's.... this movie showed none of that.
And the little boy's mom... she hugged the little girl as if she actually cared. But she only waited to get involved once she got her a$$ beat... where was her concern before that???
And what was that ending???? They just run off? How? They could have NEVER snuck into that place. No way. This movie was a total disappointment.
