Review of The Five-Year Engagement (2012) by Trenton B — 23 Nov 2012
Over the past decade I have witnessed the genre of Chick Flicks tool away at an increasingly required demographic in order to bring in increased revenue. Young adult males. The production and marketing companies have done this smartly by increasing the amount of films produced as Romantic Comedies as opposed to bleeding heart romance movies. Ryan Reynolds, Gerard Butler, Jason Segal and the likes of Seth Rogen as a few examples. Stark Contrast from the previous blockbuster Sleepless in Seattle starring Tom Hanks. Don't get me wrong, a great movie, however not as easily watchable by a majority of men. It's okay to cry if I can laugh hysterically in the same film. Just crying makes me question my masculinity...LMAO.
This is by far the realest Romance movie of any sort. I give it five stars and proclaim it will be a cult classic for generations to come.
