Review of The Five-Year Engagement (2012) by Paul M — 05 Apr 2013
Had the potential to be more than just an average romantic comedy, but unfortunately falls a bit flat! The movie is funny at times, but explores serious problems about a couple that sacrifice parts of their lives for their other halfs.
The movies pacing is terrible! It runs 2 hours long and easily could have had 20 minutes edited out. Time just comes and goes and it's a bit confusing to realize 5 years have gone by. Emily Blunt was really good in here, but Jason Seigel almost seemed to be half interested here even though he co wrote the damn thing! It's predictable, but overall is a charming tale about two very different people and the journey they take! I'd say red box it like I did!
