Review of The Five Obstructions (2003) by Lucius R — 20 Jun 2007
Innovative, daring and dogmatic filmaker Lars Von Trier tempts Danish film director Jørgen Leth out of a self-imposed retirement with an offer of remarking his best-known film five times over with various "obstructions" thrown into the mix by Von Trier.
What ensues is a sometimes beautiful, sometimes terrible, sometimes wonderful vision of what it means to be an artist and to wrestle with that gift. Essential viewing for all involved in the arts (in any capacity) and worthwhile cinema for anyone who is ready to truly THINK.
