Review of The Five Obstructions (2003) by Nick R — 14 Jan 2012
A fantastic meditation in filmmaking. Madman Von Trier pushes his friend and mentor, Jørgen Leth, to remake "The Perfect Human" five times. Each time, Von Trier presents Leth with an obstruction comprised of several rules in order to make the filmmaking process a living hell.
Two brilliant artists at each others' throats with their craft. You couldn't ask for anything more humorous or diabolical.
