Review of The Five Heartbeats (1991) by Justin M — 11 Feb 2012
Pretty generic and basic with its approach. Showing a lot of what went on behind the scenes of the music industry in the 50's and 60's was great but it's as if Dirctor (Townsend) didn't want to offend with the issues of race and drug abuse because both were skimmed over and forgotten within one scene.
It's this lack of depth and the speed at which the movie moved that makes 'Heartbeats' an after school flick rather then a late night cinema.
