Review of The Fits (2016) by Aïko G — 08 Nov 2016
The Fits is a mysterious drama movie that isn't big on words and instead speaks with its visuals and meaningful shots. We follow a young tomboy girl, who slowly grows up and gets interested in more girly things.
She joins an all girl dance squad. Which at first is a little awkward and lonely for her, but after a while she fits in better and even makes some girlfriends. When the girls in her squad begin to, one by one, have weird epileptic like fits this movie gets mysterious because it is never really explained what the cause of these fits are.
When all the girls get these fits and she doesn't, in a weird way she begins to feel left out again. The scenes where the camera is focused on the main character and you can almost feel her emotions without her uttering a word are amazing.
This together with the underlying mystery kept me watching with a strange kind off suspense. Overall the story is interesting, but at the end I was left with more questions then I wanted.
