Review of The Fisher King (1991) by Peter B — 22 Jul 2008
A good grown up fairytale that suffers from being way too long (bout 2 hrs 20 minwits)...
Its got an uneven tone in a way (one moment really really dark in its themes then the next really light and playful) but then maybe thats the point. Theres both darkness and light - Thats life as esther used to say. You really do feel for the 2 main geezers (Bridges at the start mainly and Williams throughout and especially during his horrible flashback...) The love story aspect of it comes and goes and there feels like there are too many ideas going on at the same time. Though it does feel as if it ties itself together come the end. The main problem is the length tho and if it had been shorter would have been way better. A nice little adult fable.
