Review of The Fisher King (1991) by David A — 15 Jun 2010
One of my favourite Gilliam films. Quite entertaining. This is probably my favourite performance by Jeff Bridges. I just really enjoyed him both as the slick DJ and the more humbled version of himself. Williams was pretty standard, really, but he fit the role well. Jeter was a real delight, and one of the roles where his squirrely behaviour really enhanced the character being portrayed.
A really interesting story, and it's originality really gives it a lot of points. Of all Gilliam's work, I think this one does the best job of bridging the more strange and ethereal part of this imagination with the more real side.
Glad I finally got around to seeing it.
