Review of The First Wives Club (1996) by Aaron R — 20 Mar 2008
Unashamedly forced farce is once again lifted by the presence of Midler, whose storyline here is more interesting than her two counterparts. Hawn is vivacious as the aging screen starlet whose being shafted by her husband and Keaton is suitably manic as the neurotic wife who finds out her husband is cheating on her.
teh pro femme empowerment message is fun and this PG Sex & The City for middle aged women is a guilty pleasure. For all it's saccharine and hollwoodisms it's Midler who once gains reigns supreme with her timing and zappy energy.
She is a true star in this.
