Review of The First Wives Club (1996) by Misty May F — 14 Jun 2012
It does have three classic leading ladies, including Bette Midler doing what she does best... Hammy Broadway theatrics.
However...
Overall it feels more like a "look at me!" classic created by and for those three actresses when they started feeling their ages catch up with them. It wasn't so much a display for the audiences as it was a cinematically produced self-proclaimation of "I will not go lightly, Father Time!".
Annoying screams of surprise and overemotional cries of exasperation throughout make it a bit of an irritation even if you're trying to ignore it.
