Review of The Firm (1993) by Drum2Harmonize W — 18 Apr 2013
"The Firm" is a very intelligent thriller/drama with some great performances that's sure to keep you guessing. From the beginning you'll be able to see that something is amiss with "Bendini, Lambert, & Locke" and as you learn more and more, the situation becomes increasingly dire for Tom Cruise's character.
Where some films would have turned into a cheap chase movie with explosions and bullets, the characters in the film act in ways that are consistent with their characters, feel the way real people do and don't turn into ace shooters that magically learn to fire a gun like professional hitmen or indestructible supermen that casually fly through glass windows without breaking a sweat.
The film's climax is a believable ride that will not only keep you guessing but have you on the edge of your seat. The movie runs too long and has a couple of convenient coincidences but it's a smart thriller that wraps itself up very well in a satisfying manner that proves how intelligent the writer is.
