Review of The Firm (1993) by David S — 21 Jan 2014
The first Grisham film adaptation and definitely one of the best. Cruise is good as the young lawyer but he also has an amazing cast around him, all giving very strong performances. A thriller about a legal firm doesn't sound like a riveting film but Pollack keeps the suspense constant and is helped by Grisham's strongest story structure.
The film has an unmistakably 90's gloss but otherwise this could have been made in the 70's and would have sat alongside other conspiracy thrillers of that era.
