Review of The Finest Hours (2016) by Yishai T — 07 Feb 2016
Pine & Affleck are fine actors and are delightful to watch. After seeing interviews with the men who the movie is about it makes Pine and Affleck potrayal more enduring. Craig Gillespie is not up to the task of telling this story, the movie feels like he is trying to become Señor Spielbergo.
It is a 50s-60s feeling movie that was stomped on by special effects and the soul was mushed out. The direction chugs and chokes like a waterlogged engine. maybe it is a problem in modern America that we need to see the spectacular and near impossible to believe it happened because we have lost the ability to feel and understand the improbable.
