Review of The Finest Hours (2016) by Tiffany F — 03 Nov 2016
Saw on Netflix, one of the first releases under the Disney/Netflix exclusive streaming agreement. I really liked it, it was intense, sometimes confusing when being thrown around by the sea, but not difficult to follow.
It's also mostly accurate to the incredible true story - Miriam's part is pretty much a huge embellishment to include a strong female presence in a story involving only men, she was actually bedridden with the flu and already married at the time.
Other differences aren't very significant. I also appreciated how Chris Pine played Bernard, who seemed to have a very different personality from other parts I've seen him play and probably himself.
He never reminded me of his previous characters.
