Review of The Finest Hours (2016) by Linda P — 01 Feb 2016
The director "Million Dollar Arm" of the remake of "Fright Night" brings you the tale of the the greatest small-boat rescue in coast guard history... as produced by The Lifetime Network.
Yeah, that was just going to be a preamble, but I can't top that. This movie fails in a very real way to realize where it's interesting story is. I did not care one lick about the romance between two characters who literally only shared 2 short scenes worth of screen time together.
It's not interesting at all watching a coast guard boat make it's way through waves, dangerous tho they may be. No, what's interesting is the steps the tanker crew take to keep the half-vessel afloat long enough for rescue to come, but that's where the least amount of time is spent.
Add in an overpowering soundtrack and bland, exposition heavy dialog and you have a real snoozefest of a film.
