Review of The Finest Hours (2016) by Derek B — 06 Feb 2016
As a history lover, this film drew my interest immediately. If you're going in for massive amounts of special effects that will blow your hair back, this may not be the film for you. If you are looking for a well made film surrounding history, this is a must see.
Many films "based on true stories" end up with so much over dramatization that one begins to ask where fact ends and fiction begins, but not with The Finest Hours. It is extremely accurate; from costume to casting, the film does a wonderful job being accurate and making you feel that they are as well.
Chris Pine, Holliday Grainger and Casey Affleck all do fantastic jobs playing their roles. We give this one a five for telling us a story about a regular group of men that managed to do an irregular thing.
