Review of The Final Destination (2009) by Luke B — 29 Aug 2011
How can we go bigger, or at least try to top ourselves? Well, first you hire Bubba from 'Forrest Gump' and make him one of your main characters, and second you open up with a car pileup at a Nascar race that doesn't just clutter the blacktop but invades the stands, killing everyone in it, except of course for the story's protaganists(this includes Bubba).
.. Each of the 'Final Destination' films has had som sort of laughable moment---laughable---because the moment wasn't scary and gory, but gory and ridiculously stupid. The first film had sort of a grounded sense of reason to why things happened, by this time around, things happen and people die, only to show off to audience members and to try and get that laugh or 'oh shit' feeling from them.
This is also the great opportunity for the stuido to rush a film out and cash in on what this series has already made... The first two films were actually fun to watch, and didn't have this 'slap you in the face - you're an idiot for watching this crap' feeling.
The third film was slightly less, but was nothing compared to this horrendous waste of time and film, where the only scary vision I got while watching it was the sight of studio execs filling their wallets with greenbacks during a meeting to discuss how many more sequels to make.
.. WORST DEATH: involves a Tool, swimming pool, water pump, and suction.
